Kindo and Privacy

27 Sep 2007

We’re following a set of simple rules for how we treat information you give us.

1. Family only:
Only the people in your family tree can see your tree and information you put in the tree (such as your profile information). The public cannot access this data.

2. No spamming: We will never spam you or any of your family members. We’re sending a single reminder to a family member who hasn’t replied to your invitation. We will also send you newsletters and other notifications to your email address, but if you don’t like this you’ll be able to change your settings. If you don’t want any more emails from us, you can also drop us a line.

3. Everything stays with Kindo: We will never provide your personal information to advertisers or other third parties that are not closely affiliated with Kindo, unless we get your explicit permission. Your data is safe with us.

4. Cookies are good for you: We use cookies, since they make it easier for you to use Kindo. Cookies are basically small text files that are stored on your computer. More specific, we use session ID cookies to keep track of your data while you’re logged in, and persistent cookies, which makes it easy to log back in to Kindo.

5. Contact: For questions regarding these rules, feel free to use this address.

    Hi Kindo folks,

This is a great application. Very addictive. I am a bit tempted to map out my entire family tree with ancestors and everything. However, if I do that, is there any way for me to export that data if I would like some other application to process it for example.

Is it possible to plug your own applications into Kindo, like in Facebook?

Health-related services are a hot topic right now. I assume you had in mind from the start that Kindo could be a killer-app in that area. Smart.

    Best regards,
    Claes

    Hi Claes

Thanks for the positive feedback. Currently we do not have an open API to allow other developers to plug there own applications into Kindo, but that is something that is in the pipeline…maybe in a few months ;)

In terms of exporting family trees, this is also something that a number of users have asked and is another item on our long list of feature requests.

    Glad you’re enjoying the site

    Welcome to the family!
    Stephen

    Hi Harsh,

you cannot print out the tree yet (except from taking a screenshot). But we are working on it. So stay tuned…

    Cheers Mario

“other third parties that are not closely affiliated with Kindo” is very vague and open-ended.

  6. Anne Bekker On:

Hi everyone, we are all connected in this world by no less than 7 people,so lets keep this ball rolling!

  7. Helder On:

People I invite to kindo are having some problems with the password. If they don’t change the password the first time they enter to kindo, aftewards they are not able to enter kindo again (because they don’t have password and the eletronic direction of their email don’t work anymore. What should I do? I’ve also created a “false” person in my tree just to see what´s happening with the passwords (I sent a massage to another email I have). When I recieved the email I accepted it but then I were not able to re-enter the kindo. I’m not able to delete this false person of my tree. What shoul I do?.

    Thanks,

    Helder

    Hi Helder,

good to hear from you. You can always look at the help section for basic questions and by sending an email to support@kindo.com!

In your case: everybody who joins Kindo by invitation will be sent an email with login and password details after logging in for the first time! You might want to check spam folders as well, as sometimes Emails accidentally end up there.

If you cannot find your login details you can still reclaim your password, if you know the email address you have signed up with.

Please send me an email to support@kindo.com for further questions!

    Cheers
    Mario

P.S.: We just improved on our deleting function! However it still isnt possible to delete people, who joined Kindo already, because the risk of misuse it too high (just imagine a relative deleting YOUR profile).

  9. B. Eriksson On:

I want to leave Kindo and have my registration deleted.
    How do I do? Fine!

  10. Stephen On:

    @B. Eriksson

    I have deleted your account.

    Laters
    Steve
