The Kindo family would like to extend its best wishes to all the families out there celebrating Independence Day today.

Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, picnics, baseball games, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States.

What a great excuse to spend time with the people that are most important to you, your family. While, we are working hard in our little office in London, I trust that the majority of the USA citizens are having a fantastic day of holiday and celebration.

Yesterday the Kindo team released Norwegian, which now means that Kindo is available in 16 languages.

Thanks a lot to Eirik, who did all the translations voluntarily! It’s great to see how big and international our Kindo family has become and that there are so many committed people.

This feature request has been quite common over the last few months and I know that a number of our users will be happy.

It is still not possible to delete parents, but this small improvement will definitely improve the overall user experience.

This is in response to a number of complaints from users that the application has been a bit slow to respond and we wrote a post to let users know about this.

According to our resident technical maestro Demian, average family tree loading times have been significantly improved, for example the public tree of the British Royal family tree can be expected to be almost 26 times as fast. The improvements are mainly thanks to Demian and Dmitri, who made some huge improvements to the database, infrastructure and code in general. Nice work guys…

I truly believe the improvements have made the application an absolute pleasure to use, so go on adding some more family to your tree and let us know how the application performs.

Apart from the huge performance improvements, we have got a few more exciting features in store for all of you Kindo fanatics, so stay tuned.

I am really excited to announce that we have released some new features that are sure to make your family trees a lot more enjoyable to use.

So first up, we have launched public celebrity family trees, which is something that will be of interest to all of you genealogy addicts. There is a page on the blog where I have listed all the trees: http://kindo.com/blog/celebrity-family-trees/en/

The next cool improvement that we have made is image zooming, so when you click on an image on the profile and our family pages you get a bigger image appearing in a groovy looking popup box. Go and see for yourself…

Firstly, we have added 3 new languages, namely Russian, Turkish & Brazilian Portuguese, which now brings the tally to 11.

Our family

Secondly, we have added a brand new page called “Our family”, where you can view the latest updates from all of your active family members. It also has a section with family statistics, so you will be able to see some interesting facts about your tree – the more data the better, so start updating those profiles ;)

Other improvements include the following:

  • Ability to change one’s user name - on the settings page
  • Half-sibling support in the family cloud
  • Optimization for: Profile & family page
  • Date ordering of the calendar – which has been moved to the family page

The development & translation team have done some sterling work to get this new release out, so well done to everyone – keep up the good work!
