With Kindo’s successful Hindi launch let us take a look at the various ways to enable Hindi support on Windows and Mac environment.

Windows XP

Enable support for Indian languages (Indic) on your computer. Windows XP has inbuilt Indian languages features. If you enable these features, you will be able to view the Hindi pages much better. You must have at least 10 MB of free hard disk space. Before starting, please close any open programs.

   1. Launch Control Panel (from the Start button)
2. Go to Regional and Language Options.
3. Select the Languages tab.
4. Check (click) the line marked Install files for complex scripts and right to left languages (including Thai) When you check this line, a new window will appear, which will give a list of languages that will be installed. This list includes Indic. (You need atleast 10MB of hard disk space and need to restart you computer).

If Windows XP users are unable to read Hindi text on the website:

    * Go to View menu of your browser followed by the Encoding submenu
* Select Unicode (UTF-8) option. If the Autoselect option is available check it.

The above steps will allow Winxp users to view Hindi
For writing in Hindi you can download Baraha Software.

For instructions on Hindi support for Mac please visit the following link.

The Kindo team is proud to announce that we are now available in ‘Hindi’ which is amongst the most widely spoken languages across the world. We have also become one of the first social network in Hindi at all.

The successful Hindi launch is a collaborative effort of our dedicated translation & development team members who have worked to ensure the smooth rollout. So far no social network has paid much attention to Hindi, but for Kindo it was an easy choice. Hindi is among the top 5 languages spoken in the world, with over 500 million native speakers, 330 million in India alone. Of India’s Internet users, 44% prefer Hindi to English on the net.

Nils Hammar said, “We’re excited about this launch”. “We believe Internet access and usage will grow among Hindi speakers over the next few years, and that many Indians will want to use the service in their mother tongue. Apart from connecting typical Indian homes, Kindo will provide great assistance to families of many Indians who are based all over the world. Kindo is meant for all generations so it’s Important to make everyone feel at home.”

For Indians, the family is central to the daily life, which is another reason why Kindo decided to launch in Hindi.

To make this release a reality, the translation team has looked towards multiple issues like installation of the correct fonts-package on operating systems (Windows & Mac), cross-browser compatibility with Hindi (Mozilla Firefox and IE). The structured approach to ensure high quality involved the usage of multiple translation interfaces like google’s indic and translate engine.

Many experts have started terming Torres as the successor to Henry’s throne but Lehman believes it would still take him more time. When Lukas Podolski scored two goals in Germany’s opening encounter against Poland his heart showed mixed emotions. He was happy for leading his german-team to a comfortable victory against Poland. But deep inside he was little sad for scoring goals against a country where he was born. Podolski, certainly, did not celebrate his two goals and this is what he had to say, “Of course I have mixed feelings. I have a large family in Poland. I have to respect the country”.

Infact, Germany is not the only country to have played from mixed nationalities. Portugal has relied on Brazilian’s Deco and Roger Guerreiro to take it across to them Euro 2008 semis this year.

Germany and Spain are the two countries who have selected Brazilian players Kevin Kuranyiand and Marcos Senna respectively. France has always looked upon it’s former colonies for football talent. Les Bleus have Patrice Evra (Senegal), Jean-Alain Boumsong (Cameroon), Patrick Vieira (Senegal) as some of their popular imports. If we look at the non-European-born players then they can be easily placed into one-squad with five substitutes and six reserves.

Purists say that its good for the game. Some also opine that it is a cause of worry when teams do not feel players from their own countries. What are your thoughts on the influx of players from different nationalities in this edition’s Euro 2008? What sort of emotion do these players go through while playing against their countries of origin/birth? What do their families feel about it? Do drop in your comments about that

Talking about football players don’t miss out the celebrity family trees of famous football players Zlatan Ibrahimović, David Beckham, Michael Ballack and Gianluigi Buffon. How does the cost of raising a family affect your retirement planning?

Scott uses an interesting mathematical derivation to arrive at the result. Parents, focus on their expenditures while raising kids (primarily their standard of living is affected) and this standard of living carries on once their job is over.

In mathematical terms for any household the cost of living is the square root of no. of people in the household.

So if there’s one guy in house then it is square root of 1 which is 1

If husband and wife are living then it is square root of 2 which is 1.414

Cost of living with one child is square root of 3 which is 1.73

Cost of living with 2 children is square root of 4 which is 2

The above derivations show that the cost of living is accounted for by 30% when parents have 2 children. So husband and wife contribute to 70% cost of living.

Scott has used another elaboration to explain his logic. For more on the interesting piece visit dailybreeze.com website here.

According to the research, grandparents are increasingly looked upon as problem resolvers.

The study which was conducted amongst 1500 kids also showed that involvement with grandparents helps them to maintain cool during critical situations such as divorce. The statistics of the research say that out of every three grandmothers one looks after a grandchild.

According to the university, it is time for the government to take initiative in this direction and ensure that necessary steps are implemented for taking care of grandchildren.

According to Prof Ann Buchanan, the director of the Centre for Research into Parenting and Children in the Department of Social Policy and Social Work at Oxford University, “What was especially interesting was the link between involved grandparents and adolescent well-being. Closeness was not enough: only grandparents who got stuck in had this positive impact on their grandchildren”.

It was an experience to cherish for the German super model and Grammy winner Heidi Klum! Seal and Heidi exchange their marriage vows each year and this time they chose to wed in traditional Indian style. The distinct Indian flavor was evident in food, dresses and even the manner in which their families approached the wedding.

What was really amazing is that everyone from the family and the guests came dressed in Indian sarees, jewellery and sherwanis.

Heidi was very moved when she was told about the significance of sindoor for the Indian bride by the priest. Similarly, her parents turned very emotional when they were asked by the priest to wash the feet of their son-in-law Seal, which was a custom in India.

It was terrific sight to witness the mix of rich culture and family traditions from two different global families. Both Heidi and Seal were well aware how Indians view the institution of marriage and how it is seen as saat janmo ka bandhan. They wanted to understand the exact philosophy of the saat pheras.

The dedication towards Indian experience was shown by the fact that only vegetarian north Indian food was served in the menu. The spices were specially imported from India. Although the chef was American, the families enjoyed excellent gobhi-aloo, naan and pulao.

For more information about Heidi Klum and her family check out Heidi’s family tree by us.
